USMLE Step 2 CK Scoring Guide

How scores are calculated, what they mean, and how to reach your goal score.

Scoring Overview

Step 2 CK is scored on the same three-digit scale as the old Step 1, with a passing threshold around 209 (subject to change by USMLE). Higher scores correlate with stronger residency applications, especially for competitive specialties like dermatology, plastic surgery, orthopedics, and ophthalmology. Aim for 250+ for competitive residencies.
